My absolute 'must have' when creating: my non-stick craft mat is the best tool ever and some water in spray bottle

About: Virág means flower in Hungarian. I work as a chief of marketing on weekdays, but my passion is scrapbooking. This is not just a craft activity for me, it is my real holiday and time for relaxation. My scraproom is a calm island in this busy world. I started scrapbooking 5 years ago, but last year when I met with mixed media scrapbooking techniques in an American YouTube video I felt that I found my line, the technique what I was looking for. I am a coffee lover. I love singing loudly, but my voice is horrible. And I know, I am a bit crazy, because normal is boring for me. :)

What inspires me: A paper, a technique, a beautiful embellishment, a good photo can inspire me easily. I really like to recycle products in my creations, sometimes a dirty tissue, a little piece of fabric, an old piece of lace, a dress tag, etc. It happes that I redesign my layouts and reuse some parts of it on another page. I am not shy and hesitant when I made mistakes on my layouts, because everything can be fixed with a little creativity. One of my strength is that I can improvise during my creative process, I do not need to organise a long preparation process for creating the tutorial videos, I do not need to plan everything in advance.

My style: My style is vintage and grunge, sometimes a little romantic, but I cannot define exactly. I can reform day by day. I am able to prepare layouts in different styles, it depends on my mood, the embellishments and the papers I use.

And here's my inspiration for the new challenge:

I really love steampunk style so I decided that I mix it with fantasy. I found a gorgeous photo of a steampunk fairy. Normally I don't like using mood photos on my layouts, I prefer my photos, my memories, but I fell in love with this one. I used different kind of products and techniques. When I started the layout I wanted to keep it in brown tones, but during the process it formed into green and gold shades. I have never known what would happen during the creative process. I have never had plans what to do and this helps me to be spontaneous.

MMW#18: Magical/Fantasy

I´ve created a fantasy canvas of myself as Rapunzel or Fiona (from Shrek :), a princess locked in a tower and waiting for my Prince Charming to save me :)))

How awesome are these?! I love what my teamies created. I must admit, I was all loving the theme until I sat down and was holding my head in my hands for a while thinking what on earth was I going to create?! Me and fairies? Nah! But you know what! It is called a challenge and all of our challenges are designed and picked with you in mind. They are fairly open to imagination and the themes are always broadened for you to find your niche. They are also called challenges for a reason, It is to challenge your own ability and make you to explore more and more so that you can learn and practice more. They are also designed to be fun! I really hope that you will have a fun with this one and go wild and dig deep into your imagination. We can't wait to see your makes. There will be a linky below so you can add your creations. 

I have some news for you!!! Yulianna decided to move onto other adventures. Our team therefore needed a boost and I have been keeping my hawk eye on one particular lady and her work always amazes me. Her name is Virág Réti and she is our newest member of Mixed Media World team! Whooohooo! I'm very happy indeed! I will prepare a special post for her so keep an eye out. I am so glad she participated and agreed to share her amazing art with us. Irina is a very talented lady and her passion for mixed media shines through every one of her creations. I am a happy mother of two adult children and a grandmother to two mischievous grandsons. I live near St. Petersburg, Russia.

I have been scrapbooking for about four years and I share my work via blog - Скрап-ХоббиМания, where I’m known by the nickname of IrinaR \ Irina Rakovets. Same as my Facebook page.

I cannot say that I stick to one style – I very much like Vintage, Shabby and Steampunk and I love paint so often my work cannot do without the mixed media. Here is a collage that fully reflects what I love to do. 

I created a canvas for the MMW August challenge- the Sea. I did an imitation of old boards using binding cardboard and acrylic paints. Imitation porthole - chipboard circles, cardboard, texture paste through a stencil, acrylic paint. I added stones and pieces of glass polished by the sea waves, seashells, secured with a texture paste with glass beads, coloured granules. The Octopus (my grandson’s old toy), was primed and painted with acrylic paints. It blends nicely into in this panel, in my opinion.

I am a loved wife, a mother of 3 children and grandmother of a beautiful girl. I am living with my family in a small town in North-East Bulgaria. I am a very happy woman, because I have the opportunity to do what I'm interested, what I love and what fits my values and my lifestyle. I have a volunteer's soul and I have been involved in some social projects. I love children and I work for the integration of Roma children in my region.

I started crafting about spring of 2014. I started making cards, but very soon after that, I was hooked on mix media. It gives me pure joy and delight.

I have been to Bulgaria once, a long time ago, and it is a lovely place full of friendly people. My then bf arrived to the main train station in Burgas and stayed for a couple of days with a lovely lady who was offering accomodation so we needed to feed ourselves. It was no bead and breakfast, but she was elderly, very sweet and that was her way of making extra cash and it was a brilliant start to our two week adventure. So it was our first day after a long journey, I went to buy some food. I only went a few steps outside the flat to a little kiosk. They sold a few bits of food there so I stopped by. I asked for some bread, fruit and other bits. Then I asked for some butter. There was a choice of three. the gentleman asked.. do you want this one and I'm shaking my head no.. as you would... and he passes it to me.. I'm like, no, not this one. I point to another so he gets that one, I shake my head in agreement and he offers another. At this point, it is almost 40*C outside, I'm not used to this heat and my blood is boiling thinking he is taking the mick. And then it hit me! I read before we arrived that they shake their heads the opposite way to us. We had a good laugh in the end! It took me some time to get used to it, but we had a great time. We had a lovely time by their sea side, we walked all the way from our hotel to a nearby town called Carevo. It took us ages. It was one of the 'great' ideas my then bf had. He woke me up quite early.. on a holiday.. and said .. "I have everything packed, we're off to do a bit of tracking". I didn't care to ask what he packed... we walked for miles and miles and about half way there I ask for some drink. He had one bottled water. I asked for some food.. he had.. not kidding.. one apple!!! I nearly passed out when he told me. So we shared an apple and a bit of drink, we swam in the sea on the way and we finally got there and ate in some restaurant. Carevo was fun, but we had to head back. We got a taxi back. Let me put it this way... I don't know how we survived the ride, but we did and whoever the taxi driver was I hope that he's still alive. Wow! 

My then bf seemed to have a habit of waking me up early during our holiday. This time it was 4am! You ask why.. well, he suddenly sat on my bed as I was sleeping (we had two single beds at the time, just the way the room was) and was wrapped in his white bed sheet. I jumped, almost whacking him... what the hell he was doing scaring me like that! He said there was something 'tickling him on his nose as he was asleep', he then turned the light on and there was a big spider that went behind the wardrobe! LOL! He refused to stay in his bed. I am scared of spiders, but the look on this face.. LOL! I agreed for him to stay with me, we talked and then went to watch the sun rise. It was great. The next day, there was the biggest centipede crawling across the room as I was making a salad... getting it outside from our balcony, us trying to shake the thing off the towel using a broom was like a scene from a grotesque movie. God forbid someone saw us! It was funny though! My then bf didn't find it very funny, screamed like a girl and demanded to leave two days early. Which we did. LOL! It was a great fun though and we had a great experience which I will never forget. :) 

 Our current challenge is very much about seaside and is called 'Under the Sea'. Irena got this just right! Just look at the fab make...
